Many of the exciting new designs have been taken from ‘30s documents and Arkona is the name of a 1930’s ocean liner, so plenty of glamour in this Art Deco movement. The fabrics have been given an updated twist with fashionable colours such as mustard and charcoal, cyclamen and peat, celery and granite all used in stylish prints, cut and embossed velvets, and geometrics. Many of the fabrics are highlighted with metallics. Metallics add glamour to any room coupled with embossed velvets and coloured weaves. Harlequin seems to be right on target again with their designs for this autumn! A new range of contract weaves, Melita, is also included. This range is suitable for curtains, cushions and bedspreads. It is a great collection with a fusion of Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs. The range works alongside Arkona wallpapers and velvets. These velvets have a high rub test of 90,000 rubs so ideal for heavy use. The Celeste range, which has a metallic yarn through it, also has a high rub test.
